What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a disease of the respiratory tract, mainly spread through respiratory droplets, aerosols and direct contact with other people.
There are multiple symptoms of COVID-19. These can include:
• A high temperature or shivering
• A new, continuous cough (coughing a lot for more than one hour or having three or more episodes of coughing in 24 hours)
• A sore throat
• A loss of or change to your sense of smell or taste
The majority of people recover from their first symptoms within a few days or weeks, making a full recovery within 12 weeks. However, some people can become more seriously ill and their symptoms can last longer than this.

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk. COVID-19 Vaccine is a new, innovative vaccine that has been developed to protect against coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

You can only use this service if any of the following criteria apply to you:

– You are aged 75 & over
– have a severely lowered immune system

The below groups will be eligible for a private COVID-19 vaccination from 24th September 2024:

those aged 18 years and over
